Tasks to do before the conference:
- Read and learn details about your country's economy, history, foreign policy, allies, etc. in an encyclopedia.
- Regularly read articles on BBC, CNN, The South Morning China Post etc. to be up to date with the international news.
- Research your issue (you should choose the one that is most relevant to your country) and the UN's actions with regards to the issue.
- Write a position paper that clearly defines your country's stance on the topic.
- Have a look at how to write a resolution.
- Begin writing the preambulatory clauses of your draft resolution using the background reading you have done.
- Spend more time writing the operative clauses, which require more detail and skill. Remember that the whole point of writing a resolution is to come up with specific, new and better solutions to resolve the issue.
- Start thinking about speeches and potential co-sumbitters of your resolution.
